Recommendations
MTG Rack integrates with EDHREC to provide personalized commander and card recommendations. Whether you are looking for inspiration for your next Commander deck or want to find the best cards to add to an existing build, the recommendations engine analyzes real deck data from thousands of players to surface the most popular and effective options for your strategy.
Two Browse Modes
The recommendations page offers two distinct modes depending on whether you want personalized suggestions based on what you already own or a broad view of all available commanders:
Shows recommendations filtered to cards you already own in your collection. This is the best way to discover commanders and strategies you can build with cards you already have, minimizing purchases. The ownership percentage for each recommended card is highlighted, so you can see how close you are to completing a recommended list without buying anything new.
Shows all commanders and recommendations regardless of your collection. This is ideal for exploring new strategies, researching commanders you do not own yet, or browsing the full landscape of Commander options. Browse mode includes pagination with 24 commanders per page.

Commander Filtering
Both modes support filtering to narrow down the commander list to what you are interested in:
- Search by name — type a commander name to filter the list instantly. The search is case-insensitive and supports partial matches.
- Color filter — filter commanders by color identity with two matching modes:
- Exact — shows only commanders whose color identity matches exactly. For example, selecting Blue and Red shows only Izzet (UR) commanders, not Grixis (UBR) or Jeskai (URW).
- Contains — shows commanders whose color identity includes the selected colors. Selecting Blue and Red shows Izzet, Grixis, Jeskai, and any other identity that contains both Blue and Red.
Sort Options
The commander list can be sorted by several criteria to help you find what matters most. Each sort option has a direction toggle to switch between ascending and descending order:
| Sort By | Description |
|---|---|
| Match percentage | How well the commander's recommended cards overlap with your collection. Only meaningful in Collection mode. Sort descending to find commanders you can build with the fewest purchases. |
| Name | Alphabetical sorting for straightforward browsing. |
| Deck count | How many registered decks on EDHREC use this commander. Higher deck counts indicate more popular and established commanders with well-tested decklists. |
| Rank | EDHREC's overall popularity ranking for the commander, factoring in recent trends and total usage. |
| Price | The current market price of the commander card itself. Sort ascending to find budget-friendly commanders. |
| Salt score | EDHREC's community salt score, which measures how much frustration a commander tends to generate at the table. Higher salt means more groans from your opponents. |
| Ownership percentage | The percentage of the recommended card list that you already own. Sort descending to find commanders where you are closest to a complete build. |

Commander Recommendations
Each commander card in the recommendations list displays key metrics at a glance:
- Color identity — the commander's color identity shown as mana symbols, so you can immediately see the colors available for deck building.
- EDHREC ranking — the commander's popularity rank among all commanders on EDHREC.
- Decklist count — how many decks featuring this commander are registered on EDHREC. More decklists mean more refined and diverse recommendation data.
- Win rate — the average win rate for decks led by this commander, based on tracked game data. This gives you a sense of competitive viability.
- Price range — the estimated cost range to build a deck with this commander, from budget to optimized builds.

Card-Level Recommendations
Click any commander to see the full list of EDHREC-recommended cards for that commander. Each recommended card includes:
- Inclusion percentage — what percentage of registered decks for this commander include this card. A card with 85% inclusion is nearly a staple for the strategy, while a card at 15% is a niche or meta-dependent choice.
- Current market price — the TCGplayer market price for the card, so you can evaluate the cost of adding it.
- Owned status — a clear indicator showing whether you already own this card in your collection. Owned cards are marked with a check icon, making it easy to identify which recommended cards you still need to acquire.
From the card recommendation list, you can add unowned cards directly to your wishlist or to a deck. This creates a seamless workflow from discovery to acquisition to deck building.

Pagination
In Browse mode, the commander list is paginated at 24 commanders per page. Use the page navigation controls at the bottom to move between pages. Your current filters and sort selection persist across page navigation. In Collection mode, results are typically smaller (limited to commanders with meaningful overlap with your collection), so pagination may not be necessary.
