Analytics & Pricing
MTG Rack tracks market prices for every card in your collection and provides analytics to help you understand your portfolio's value, trends, and composition. Whether you are a casual player curious about what your cards are worth or a serious collector managing a five-figure portfolio, the analytics dashboard turns your card data into actionable insights.

Portfolio Dashboard
The analytics dashboard shows a high-level summary of your collection at a glance:
- Total estimated value — the sum of current market prices for every card in your collection, factoring in quantity and foil status.
- Unique cards — how many distinct cards (name + set + printing) you own.
- Total card count — the sum of all quantities across your collection.
- Average card value — total value divided by total card count, giving you a sense of your collection's density.
Below the summary, a portfolio chart plots your collection's total value over time. You can view the chart across different time ranges — 7 days, 30 days, 90 days, one year, or all time. Hover over any point to see the exact value on that date. Use the filters to drill into specific segments: filter by binder, set, color, or format to see how different parts of your collection are trending.
Price Data Source
Card prices are sourced from TCGplayer market data via the Scryfall API and updated daily. Each card shows:
- Current market price — the TCGplayer market price for the specific printing and treatment (regular or foil).
- 7-day change — how much the price has moved in the last week, shown as both a dollar amount and a percentage.
- 30-day trend — a sparkline showing the price trajectory over the past month.
For foil printings, regular and foil prices are tracked separately. The price shown for your collection entry matches the foil status you have recorded, so your total valuation is accurate to what you actually own.

Collection Breakdown
The breakdown section provides visual charts that reveal the composition of your collection. Each chart shows both the count and the value share:
See which colors dominate your collection by both card count and total value. Useful for identifying if your collection skews heavily toward one color.
Breakdown across creatures, instants, sorceries, artifacts, enchantments, planeswalkers, and lands.
Which expansions contribute the most value. Often a single set with a few key rares will dominate your portfolio.
Distribution across common, uncommon, rare, and mythic rare. This helps you understand whether your value is concentrated in a few mythics or spread across many rares.
You can export any chart as a PNG image or download the underlying data as a CSV for use in spreadsheets or presentations.

Top Movers
The Top Movers section highlights the cards in your collection with the biggest price changes in the last 24 hours, 7 days, or 30 days. Cards are sorted by dollar-amount change, so a $2 card that jumped to $10 is ranked higher than a $50 card that moved to $51. This helps you spot opportunities — a card you own that just spiked might be worth trading while the price is high, or a card that dropped significantly might be a signal to buy more copies.
Acquisition Price Tracking
When you add a card to your collection, you can optionally record what you paid for it in the acquisition price field. This enables return-on-investment (ROI) tracking: MTG Rack compares your cost basis against the current market price and shows your unrealized gain or loss per card and for your entire collection. This is particularly valuable for players who buy and sell cards regularly, as it provides a clear picture of whether your collection activity is profitable.
Premium Feature
Price Alerts
Set price alerts on individual cards to be notified when they cross a threshold you care about. You can configure alerts for:
| Alert Type | Description |
|---|---|
| Price increases | Get notified when a card rises above a target price. Great for deciding when to sell or trade a card you have been holding. |
| Price decreases | Get notified when a card drops below a target price. Great for sniping buying opportunities on cards you want. |
Alerts are delivered via email and as in-app notifications. You can manage all your active alerts from the analytics dashboard. Each alert triggers once and then deactivates — set a new alert if you want to continue monitoring the card.
